Hotel Monterey Kyoto is frequently praised for its beautiful, classically styled building and very convenient location near subway stations. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms, a notable feature compared to typical Japanese accommodations, and some have found the onsen, especially the ladies' section with its Kyoto views, to be a highlight; however, some guests have found paying extra for the onsen a bit unexpected. Really good Stay

ample mirrorsadditional bathexcellent locationonsen fee
The room had enough mirrors for quick morning preparations. I found a powder room in addition to a full bath and this was very useful. There was enough space to lay out our bags, even with four beds in our room. The hotel location was excellent and near many attractions.
Paying extra for the onsen as a guest was unexpected.
Location
9/10
The hotel is near many restaurants. I noticed the easy access to train stations near the hotel. This location also provided convenient access to shops and other local amenities.
Service

I observed that the staff was helpful and friendly. They assisted me with dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant. Staff ensured a quick resolution to my queries throughout my stay.

Charming stay in the city

convenient locationunique personalitynice hotelsmelly bathroom
I found the staff accommodating, especially with luggage storage every morning. The hotel location proved convenient with quick access to a 7/Eleven (very practical!) and other options nearby. I also appreciated the amenities offered for the price. This surprised me. The hotel had unique personality and Halloween decorations, giving the premises a festive touch.
The bathroom smelled of urine . The cleaning wasn't thorough enough and I believe it could use better sanitation practices.
Rooms
9/10
The rooms are pretty nice with very neat furniture. The beds are comfortable and well-furnished with soft bedding and comfortable pillows. Every room feature is thoroughly inspected and the bathroom has very good water pressure (a big plus!).
Dining
9/10
Breakfast features an excellent selection of both savory and sweet foods. The hotel dining area is spacious and offers a calm environment. All food options are fresh and refilled regularly during meal times.
Service
10/10
The hotel staff provides really good service and welcomes guests warmly. The staff is professional and is always available to help with any questions. They also offer assistance with directions and recommendations.

The onsen is a highlight, offering relaxation with city views. High-quality care is taken by staff to ensure cleanliness. This facility is easily one of the most redeeming of this hotel.
Location

This hotel has a GREAT location that makes it easy to explore local areas. This hotel is near subway and bus stops, offering quick access to transportation. Many dining options are nearby, including markets and cafes.

The family room non-smoking was spacious. The location was close to the subway station. Several restaurants were within a short walk. The onsen on the top floor included free beer during happy hour.
The bathroom sometimes had a slight sewage smell coming from the sink tap.
